Personal Anecdotes
Growing up in the small town of Conroe, Texas, Elwanda and her identical twin sister, Wanda (with their two older brothers), spent their childhood filled with laughter and memorable moments as the four-some navigated the world side by side.
Fascinated by communication and storytelling, Elwanda pursued a degree in speech communications and Radio, Television, and Film. Her natural talent for oratory shone through as she joined the debate team and became a national oratory champion. Representing her college on the President's Speakers Bureau, she traveled throughout Texas, delivering captivating speeches to various audiences. Little did she know that her debate prowess would later land her a job at a small agency where the owner deeply respected fellow debaters.
As an avid golfer, Elwanda cherished days spent on the green with friends like Jim Diebel. During one of these games, an idea emerged from a casual conversation fueled by scotch – an instructional golf video aimed at helping women improve their skills. And so, White Label Productions was born. With the determination that guided Elwanda throughout life and with several remarkable collaborators at their side, including Kathy Whitworth, they succeeded in creating "Breaking 100," one of that year's top instructional golf videos targeting women.
Elwanda's love for visual storytelling persisted through another venture: Koto Creative. This passion project encompassed all her favorite aspects of video production while empowering her creativity.
But life wasn't solely about chasing dreams and facing challenges head-on – it was also about the joy found in life's simplest moments. Over time, Elwanda never lost sight of her passion for helping others. Her love for animals prompted her to volunteer as a foster care worker at the SPCA organization. During this time, she met Roxanne, a sweet golden retriever who would become the first rescue dog she'd care for. Providing a loving home to golden retrievers soon became another one of Elwanda's life missions, extending to Harvey, Bentley, and Sophie, who taught her valuable lessons about resiliency and strength in the face of adversity.
Elwanda's escapades and experiences became increasingly vivid and multifaceted as time progressed. With a commitment to regale her audience with more delightful stories in days to come, her life narrative serves as an enduring tribute to her remarkable journey— A journey that encompasses not only highs but also lows.
